Bill Murphy, president and general manager at Gulfstream Park from 2007 to 2009, is reportedly one of 16 candidates seeking the position of executive director of the Ohio Casino Control Commission.
Murphy has ties to Ohio after serving as vice president and general manager at Thistledown in the late 1990s and partially overlapping his tenure at Gulfstream. He joined the former Gulfstream parent company, Magna Entertainment Corp., as vice president in charge of racing in June 2006 before being promoted at Gulfstream in January 2007.
The Ohio gaming position has a pay range between $66,851 and $146,286, amounts set by the Ohio General Assembly.
