A number of different casino companies are patiently waiting for expanded gambling in Florida.
Wynn Resorts is one of those companies and an international group bought the Miami Herald building on the waterfront, hoping to build a Vegas-style casino.
This comes at a perfect time as gambling support continues to grow in South Florida. A recent report states that 50 percent of voters in Miami-Dade County supported more casinos in Miami or Miami Beach, while 38 percent were against the casinos with the rest undecided.
A Miami Herald report claims that gambling was a $2 billion industry last year that produced almost 8,800 jobs.
“People are so enthusiastic about the product, and want that sort of entertainment,” Rep. Ari Porth, a Coral Springs democrat, told reporters. “And I think there’s room for more.”
