Calder Race Course to cancel nine days of live racing
Calder Race Course announced on Tuesday that it would cut nine days of live racing starting on July 25.
The Miami Gardens track will cut live racing on Mondays for most of the remaining weeks of the meet, which ends on Sept. 30. Racing is still scheduled for Sept. 5, which is Labor Day.
“We are shifting racing opportunities from Mondays to days that make more economic sense for the business and for the horsemen,” said John Marshall, Calder vice president and general manager in a statement.
“We will add races to other days throughout the year, which we believe will improve the overall customer experience by providing more action on those live race days.”
The track has run live racing from Thursday to Sunday since the 2011 meet opened on April 25.
